ANY MOUNTAIN BAKER: Personal Fundraising Page

Ovarian cancer – the deadliest women’s cancer – has no early detection test or universal means of prevention. This spring, our group of ovarian cancer survivors, medical providers and caregivers will continue our climb to the 10,781 ft peak of Mt. Baker in the Cascade Mountains of Washington state. Our overall goal --> to raise 2.9 million dollars for ovarian cancer prevention and early detection research and awareness.

Why I am climbing....

Ovarian cancer is a disease that affects women of all ages and backgrounds and causes more death than any other gynecologic cancer.

Did you know that ovarian cancer is highly curable when caught early? Unfortunately, we have no reliable screening tests for the detection of ovarian cancer and only 20% of women are diagnosed when their cancer is early stage.

Last year our team of survivors, physicians and caregivers made an incredible journey to Everest Base Camp in the name of a world without ovarian cancer. Together we raised over $500,000 for OVCA awareness, early detection and prevention research.  Our leader, mountaineer Jess Wedel, became the first ovarian cancer survivor to stand on the 29,032 ft summit of Mount Everest!

I am excited to continue the climb with the Any Mountain Baker Team.

The mountain may be smaller but the goal is just as large - to climb towards a world without ovarian cancer.
