As a two-time cancer survivor, I have had to face fear of the unknown that a cancer diagnosis brings. Through every challenge, my unwavering strength and the support of my loved ones have kept me going. I’m a proud mom, wife, and cancer awareness advocate, and this summer, I’m climbing Mt Rainier for a cause close to my heart—to help raise awareness and funding for ovarian cancer research.

Ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer-related deaths among women in the United States, and 1 in 87 women will be diagnosed with it in their lifetime. The survival rate for ovarian cancer has remained relatively low, with only about 50% of women surviving five years or more after diagnosis. Ovarian cancer is often detected in late stages, which makes early detection and better treatment options crucial.

My journey with cancer has taught me that every day is a gift, and that there’s always hope, even in the darkest moments. Now, I’m using my strength to climb Rainier not just for myself, but for all those affected by ovarian cancer. This climb is a way to honor the lives of those we’ve lost, support survivors, and fund research to find better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
