Our community is getting together to help raise awareness and funds for the American Parkinson Disease Assocation (APDA) with an Optimism Walk. This is your chance to speak up about Parkinsons and take action! Your support will help APDA advance research towards a cure, provide educational resources, and fund programs that make life better for people living with Parkinsons disease.
I am committed to raising awareness about Parkinsons after my husband Randy (a.k.a. Bugsy) was diagnosed with this progressive degenerative neurological disorder in January at age 57. He is one of 90,000 people who will be diagnosed in the US this year. His symptoms started with a tremor in his right hand, his right arm didn't swing when he walked, he had slow speech and little to no facial expression. Finding out Randy has Parkinsons was a huge shock and very overwelming. We quickly turned to APDA to learn as much as we could. Their webinars, podcasts and conference have been invaluable to us. What people may not know is Parkinsons also affects your sleep, mental health and other bodily functions.
Exercise has proven crucial for managing Randy's PD symptoms. That's why I am committed to raising money for APDA by walking to show my support. We'd love to have you join Team Bugsy.
