The Story of Arlie

Calin and Megan Owens met in college at WVU and fell in love. They married on June 5, 2010 and moved back to Calin's hometown of St. Albans.

After around a year, they decided to take the leap and move to Charleston, SC in order for Megan to complete schooling to become a Nurse Anesthetist. After she graduated, they moved to Roanoke, VA for a short time and have now settled into Greenville, SC where Megan works at a local hospital and Calin works at a landscape architecture design firm.

After years of married life without kids, they decided they were both ready to have kids in 2017. Megan became pregnant and they were both ecstatic, nervous, and hopeful for their new life as parents. Megan's pregnancy was about as perfect as it could have been until just after her 39 week mark.

On June 4, 2017, Arlie Gray Owens came to us stillborn. Her little life has been so important to so many ever since, especially to her parents who are trying their best to pick up the pieces and continue living without their daughter.

We are having this race in hopes of raising money for an organization called Star Legacy Foundation that helps to raise awareness to pregnancy and infant loss. Star Legacy uses funds raised for research and education towards stillbirth.

But, more importantly, we want to honor our sweet Arlie and other families who have lost children to stillbirth.
