Thank you for giving.

Here in Brevard County, nearly 80,000 adults aged 18 to 65 find themselves in the “coverage gap,” earning too much to qualify for Medicaid yet struggling to make ends meet. The Compassionate Care Fund, in partnership with case managers, social workers and associates across the IDN, extends Guardian Angel Grants to eligible patients in need, providing assistance with transportation to appointments, prescription co-pays, medical equipment, and so much more.

When Rockledge native Teresa Roberts received her second cancer diagnosis, life quickly became overwhelming. With multiple appointments each week, she had to stop working and began relying on loved ones for rides. The financial stress and loss of independence left her feeling trapped, with few options to continue the treatment she desperately needed.

Thanks to donors like you, everything changed. Teresa was introduced to the Compassionate Care Fund by Chrissy Feeken, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Health First Cancer Institute. She applied for the Guardian Angel Grant and was approved—receiving crucial support for her rent, transportation to treatment, and ongoing medical care. “The Guardian Angel Grant made it possible to get to my appointments,” Teresa shared. “It gave me access to my doctors, my treatments, and the ability to focus on what matters most: getting better.”

Your gift to the Compassionate Care Fund during the 2025 Associate Month of Giving ensures more eligible patients like Teresa can access the support they need. Whether it’s help with transportation, prescriptions, or staying safely in their homes, your generosity bridges the gap between crisis and recovery.

“Thanks to the support I received, I’m not just surviving, I’m moving forward.” – Teresa Roberts
