My name is Ashley, and I’m walking in honor of my son—my heart warrior—who was born with a complex congenital heart defect called DORV. Our journey has taken us through hospital rooms, surgeries, endless appointments, and moments where time feels like it stands still. But through it all, he has shown me what strength truly looks like.

This year, I’m walking with even more purpose as The Children’s Heart Foundation celebrates 30 years of funding research that has helped transform survival and care for children born with congenital heart defects. Those advances are not just statistics to me—they are the reason my son is here, and the reason we have hope for his future.

Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the United States, and every child born with CHD deserves better outcomes, more answers, and continued progress in treatment and prevention. That is what this walk supports—life-changing research that helps children not just survive, but thrive.

I walk for my son.
I walk for every “we need answers” moment.
I walk for every mother sitting in a waiting room hoping for good news.
And I walk for the future we are still believing in.
