Aurora creates solutions to prevent and end homelessness in the Evansville area. They offer many programs to reach those experiencing homelessness and those at risk. Their values and goals align with Feed Evansville and my own personal mission to end food insecurity. Hunger often precedes homelessness because people are forced to decide between paying for shelter or food. With significant barriers preventing access to food, a person experiencing homelessness remains at risk for experiencing long-term food insecurity. I’m focusing 48hrs to experience and learn about the barriers that are placed in front of families, or homeless individuals, daily. Acknowledging the many challenges faced by homeless children, individuals and families is the first step to identifying and supporting their needs. Feed Evansville is proud to partner with Auora during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week to bring new ideas and solutions to the Evansville area.
Aurora is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless and near homeless in the Greater Evansville, IN area. Each year, it serves over 500 individuals: men, women, children, those with disabilities, and the re-entry population.
The Homeless Experience Project is Aurora’s new fundraiser and awareness event and its purpose is to bring a greater understanding of the struggles the families and individuals face when homeless in our community. If you'd like to support Aurora, please donate to my fundraising page!
