James and I had something called "mirror syndrome". Basically, the placenta had detached a little and James' red blood cells were leaking into my body. They made my body mirror what his body was doing. So, when I went in for a ultra sound to check his growth, they informed us that there was fluid in his abdomen and sent us to Abbot right away. They gave me magnizium and steroids to strengthen James and get him ready to enter the world. During this time, I ended up gaining 20lbs of fluid in 2 days. When the fluid started to interfere with my breathing, they decided it was time to take James via C-section. James came into this world on July 6th, 2014, 9 1/2 weeks early. He spent 8 weeks at Children's (5 of those on oxygen). We had the best staff and felt as much at home as possible while we were there. We also had a lot of support from family and friends! We could not have done this without them!
