My son brought Zeus, at the time a 1.5 year old German Shepard into our lives in 2012. Zeus was scrawny, stinky, didn't bark and didn't like to be touched. He was neglected by his prior owners. Zeus came to visit with my son almost every weekend. After a year, my son said he wanted to find Zeus another home, his dad and I said, the only home for Zeus is with us. So we became dog owners for the first time in 30 years of marriage.  When my husband passed away in 2014, Zeus became my protector and best buddy. When he was about 8 years old, Zeus started having difficulty going up the stairs and began showing signs if degenerative myelopathy. He eventually lost the use of his hind legs and we had to say goodbye to him at the age of 10 in June.

Zeus wasn't a shelter dog, but I want to help protect other dogs and help them find loving homes in Zeus's honor.
