I'm super excited to participate in my very first fundraiser bike ride! Please support me raising money for Bikes not Bobs! You can learn more about the many great things they are doing to promote biking, and provide opportunities in local and many international communities around the world on their website: https://bikesnotbombs.org/ Some of my favorite initiatives are their youth pathways program which is an active, hands-on and peer-led program for local youth. They provide mechanical training, teach youth how to ride bikes and give them the opportunity to earn their very own bike when participating in the program. They also facilitate youth-let community organizing. The teenagers, have been campaigning against displacement in Jamaica Plain and Roxbury, neighborhoods that many of our members call home.  I also love that Bikes not Bobs partners with international organizations to utilize bikes to solve local issues and create new opportunities within the communities. For example, they’ve been working with the Amuru Village Health Team, a group of 550 volunteer village health workers, the project provides bices, repair workshops and project management skills to the health workers so that they can use bikes as a transportation system for rural health service delivery, improving the mobility of the health workers and helping them to access patients in rural villages more efficiently and more frequently.  These and their other projects really have the potential to make a difference in people’s lifes! Plus, they involve bikes – I love bikes!
