Spring struggled to get normal this year. Boston Marathon runners faced raw conditions. Finally May Day reached 90 degrees to welcome the swans back to the Public Garden and serve notice that it’s time to get in gear for Bikes-Not-Bombs (BNB) 31st Annual Bike-A-Thon on Sunday June 10.
Bikes Not Bombs not only collects and ships bicycles, we collaborate and share strategies with partners to improve program success. By investing in the skills and capacity of our partners, Bikes Not Bombs enhances the impact of each donated bicycle, while building sustainable organizations and communities.
One of our amazing partners is the Amuru Village Health Team that supports a Health Worker Mobility Project in Amuru, Northern Uganda. This program provides bicycles, bike mechanics training and workshops in operational skills for the health team to develop their capacity to own and manage the project long-term. Bicycles enhance transportation for rural health workers by improving their ability to access patients in remote villages.
