Bikes Not Bombs uses the bicycle as a vehicle for social change. How?

In Boston, youth learn how to build and repair bikes, earning their own bikes and learning leadership and job skills along the way.

In the global south, for example, in Guatemala, El Salvador, and Uganda, Bikes Not Bombs works with their international partners and ships refurbished bikes and reclaimed bike parts for the design and production of bicycle-powered machines, and to create jobs and sustainable transportation. 

I became involved with Bikes Not Bombs when I first moved to New England from Missouri many moons ago. I have seen the accomplishments of this organization first-hand. I can testify that for some people (like me), the bicycle offered an affordable mode of transportation, to get to work, to continue my education, and to get out of the city. Now, my bike is my sanity! And I LOVE riding the Bike-A-Thon to support all that Bikes Not Bombs does.
