This year, Baypath faced its most resource-intensive case yet: the rescue and rehabilitation of 15 huskies and shepherds from a breeding cruelty situation. Under strict legal constraints, their care spanned 11 months, consuming nearly half our kennel space and hundreds of staff and volunteer hours. From severe medical issues to deep emotional trauma, each dog required extraordinary intervention. This unprecedented effort tested every facet of our operation - and reaffirmed our unwavering promise to provide every animal with the compassionate, comprehensive care they deserve. Now allow us to introduce Gunner, one of these incredible huskies who is now living his best life with adopter April!
Welcome to Gunner's Gang!
Meet Gunner, a newly adopted one-year-old Husky and full-time chaos gremlin/part-time teddy bear.
Role: Chief Cuddle Officer
Core competencies:
Zero understanding of personal space (if you’re sitting, he’s on you)
Tigger-level house bounces - springs apparently installed at factory
Outdoors: instant Zen monk who contemplates leaves like art
Ongoing campaign to win the undying love of his chocolate lab brother, Hunter (results pending)
Performance highlights:
Converts humans into pillows by 9 PM
Provides all-night snuggles—like sleeping with a warm, happy teddy bear that occasionally sighs dramatically
Delivers 200% enthusiasm for every walk, treat, and glance
Gunner brings laughter, cuddles, and enough Husky hair to knit a second Husky.
