At my 6 week postpartum visit following the birth of my firstborn my OBGYN told me I may not be able to have more children due to complications during and after delivery. Following a miscarriage in January 2019, I got pregnant with our precious Eliza Kay! In November, at 31 weeks, my membranes ruptured prematurely and I was admitted to Bronson's Antepartum Unit to be on bedrest until Eliza made her arrival. I am incredibly thankful for the amazing nurses (and all other staff) that took care of me. I had plenty of art supplies from the art therapist and spent endless hours coloring, designing onsies, and decorating my walls. I had access to movies, a DVD player, and a laptop. So many extra things that are available because of donations from extraordinary people, like you! Eliza made her appearance into the world at 34 weeks and spent two weeks in the NICU before coming home. During that time, we had a camera to watch her whenever we wanted (loved this during middle of the night pumping sessions!), staff took pictures of her to make a photo memory book of her NICU journey, we had books provided to us so we could read to her (and we got to take those books home), and I was given a warm fuzzy blankie to use while napping in the NICU recliner or snuggling Eliza. These may seem like "little" things but they were HUGE to us as we lived at the hospital and these things made our unexpected stay wonderful.
