On Sunday, September 20th, we'll take steps to change the math for the 25% of Brooklynites living in poverty as we walk for a needed cause in Prospect Park. Each year, the Million Step Challenge has inspired hundreds of people (and dogs ;-) to walk or donate to benefit Brooklyn Community Services (BCS) one of the boroughs oldest and largest non-profits. The funds raised are a vital lifeline that sustains the programs and services that BCS offers to thousands of residents living in underserved communities each year.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, the borough will forever hold a place in my heart and I'm glad we can do more to make a difference in the lives of those who still call Brooklyn home. As the borough continues to grow, there are many who could be lost in the shadows of each new high rise development. With each step and every donation, you can help BCS maintain the necessary resources to support early childhood education, afterschool programs, academic support for youth, counseling and services to strengthen families in crisis and provide job training and wellness programs for adults with mental and physical disabilities.
