I'm taking part in the 2025 Berlin Marathon to raise money for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism! As a special education teacher in New York City, I see everyday how access to resources and opportunities can lift up the autistic community.
My autistic students are some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met. They have creative and intellectual aspirations that center around bringing art and love into the world. Outside of class, however, most students cannot afford extracurriculars or training that adequately meet their needs. I would want each of my students to be able to participate in this foundation's programming, because every child is worthy of opportunities to grow, learn, and explore.
The Flutie Foundation's mission is to create a more equitable world for people with autism. The foundation provides physical and social opportunities for children through summer camps and extracurriculars. The foundation also supports adults with autism by providing higher education and employment opportunities. Parents receive resources and actionable strategies to improve their child's everyday life. Lastly, the foundation provides financial grants to families so they can afford therapies and supports their children's needs.

This will be my 5th Marathon and my second fundraising for the Flutie Foundation! I ran with the Flutie foundation in 2022 for the Boston Marathon and have been excited to partner with them again ever since. Please join me in supporting their cause :)
