I believe in the work that I do at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Island County. We provide mentors for youth on a one to one basis, matching them with a caring adult, screened and vetted, with similar interests. We build relationships, and that changes lives.

Mentorship is important and valuable to me personally, because I recognize the impact that mentors have had on my experience. I have been lucky to have many people who took the time to provide guidance, show an interest in my interests, and follow through. Their encouraging words give me strength to rise above life’s difficulties, and they rally for me when I have trouble finding my way. When we stop to think about the little moments that had big impacts on our lives, the people in those memories are often mentors.
