For those of you who don't know, I've been volunteering at a local high school where we are mentoring the kids through a STEAM focused program partnered with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. I've seen a shift in these kids from our first session to now and that is not only exciting, but to me is extremely important. I don't need a kid to necessarily get excited about a particular project or experiment that we do, but to see them perk up when we show up each month is important - it is important for them to understand they are important to us, to me.
