Yes, another fundraising pitch, for an entirely different bicycle organization here in Boston. This time, Bikes Not Bombs, which sends thousands of donated bikes to community partners in the Caribean, South America, and Africa. Other bikes they give to young Bostonians who are learning bike skills, safety, and repair. Some of those young people end up as mechanics and assistants in their bike shop.
Bikes. Young people. Social re-working. Sounds like me, doesn't it?
(Note that this 100-mile ride is six days before I do a 126-mile ride, but I am NOT fundraising for the ride. For that ride, I am donating money. My desire is that as many people as possible donate to BNB. More grassroots, close-to-the-gound, and directly impactful.)
