I am excited to participate in this year's Bikes Not Bombs Bike-A-Thon! Having joined two years ago, I am thrilled to support this fantastic cause once again, which focuses on enriching youth education and using bikes as a powerful tool for social change.

What is Bikes Not Bombs?

Bikes Not Bombs is a Boston-based organization dedicated to using bicycles for social change and environmental sustainability. Founded in 1984, Bikes Not Bombs works locally and internationally to reclaim thousands of bicycles annually. These bikes are refurbished and used in various social justice projects, providing sustainable transportation solutions and promoting economic development.

Bikes Not Bombs' Mission Includes:

• Reclaiming Bikes: Thousands of donated bikes are collected and refurbished each year. These bikes are distributed to local and international projects, providing affordable, sustainable transportation to communities in need.

• Youth Programs: Bikes Not Bombs offers hands-on training for youth and adults, teaching valuable mechanical and leadership skills. Programs like the Earn-A-Bike and Girls In Action empower young people by teaching them to build and maintain bikes, fostering self-confidence and practical skills.

• Job Training and Mentorship: The organization creates meaningful job opportunities and provides professional mentorship for Boston teenagers and young adults, helping them develop career skills and gain valuable work experience.

• Promoting Bike Culture: Bikes Not Bombs advocates for a thriving, equitable bike culture in Boston and beyond, working to make cycling accessible to everyone and promoting the benefits of biking for health, sustainability, and community.

I am passionate about the mission of Bikes Not Bombs and the positive impact they have on communities both locally and globally. By participating in the Bike-A-Thon, I aim to raise funds and awareness to support their critical work.
