I've been supporting Bikes Not Bombs (BNB) since 2003. There are many reasons. Two of the biggest ones are:

1) Youth work. BNB creates opportunities for empowering youth. By helping them gain confidence in learning to repair bicycles, and ride safely in the city, BNB teaches young people the power of their actions to create the changes they want to see. There is strong evidence that reinforcing self-efficacy strengthens resilience for youth as their mature and navigate a world that is every more complicated. BNB does this through creating a learning space that is safe for young people of all identities and emphasizes dignity and respect, creating a more equitable world.

2) Environmental impacts - BNB redirects the waste stream by reducing bicycle-related waste, reusing parts that have more useful life, and recycling the remaining materials. This dedication to efficient use of resources is reflected in BNB's lean operations, and their focus on delivering high impact programming.
