I’m thrilled to be participating in Bike-A-Thon 2026, a fundraiser supporting Bikes Not Bombs! BNB trains youth to work on bikes through their apprenticeship program and the bikes they work on are often refurbished bikes that get repurposed to communities that need and benefit tremendously from bikes like in Africa and central America. Many of the bikes help people run their small businesses in these countries. It's amazing to see the full circle of impact they make both in the local Jamaica Plain (Boston) community and abroad.
I've been cycling since I was 6 years old and I still remember the sense of freedom riding without training wheels gave me. I'm so excited to share that experience with my kids and to raise money for a cause that involves bikes. Bikes are liberation machines!
