It's time for my annual bike ride to raise money for Bikes Not Bombs! I started this ride over 10 years ago. BNB is in Jamaica Plain, the Boston neighborhood I have lived in for 6 years now. They do great work. In their Earn-a-Bike program they teach neighborhood kids how to work on bikes-and they get to keep the bike they built! They also collect donated bikes, strip them down and put them in containers to send to low income countries in Central America, the Caribbean, and Africa. Finally, they refurbish and sell some of these donated bikes at their store in Jamaica Plain. I bought my commuter bike there and 2 of my friends have bought bikes there! That's good for the environment-fix up and re-use these bikes, don't throw them in landfills.

So please help out for this local organization that helps the environment, helps kids in the local community, and helps others in low income countries--using the bicycle as a vehicle for social change!


