Chain of Love: Why I Ride for Bikes-Not-Bombs
Right here in the Boston area, youth learn to build and repair bikes. Build a bike, Earn A Bike. Mentors teach youth. Youth teach other youth. Very cool program.
Good for people, good for the planet!
Another good-for-the-planet program—saving thousands of bikes from our landfills, is the Bike Drive. BnB organizes these events around the state, collecting old bikes, salvaging parts, then rebuilding good, robust bikes and getting them into the hands of those that need them through partners in the global south: to rural communities providing sustainable mobility; for job training in bike repair for girls and women; and to those with know-how in building bicycle-powered machines.
