Why I'm Riding
There is nothing like a good downhill on a bike. I assume a convertable can get you a similar experience, but we don't all have that luxury.
After college, I rode a frankenstein bike of a road bike with mountain bike handles my dad outfitted for me; to this day, drops are scary! I didn't ride it cause I loved it, but instead to save time in rush hour traffic and the $1.10 each day on the bus to get to work in Washington, DC, when the weather was cooperative.
In 2010, I started working at the League of American Bicyclists and fell in love with biking: the freedom to go anywhere, anytime. I began commuting by bike religiously. I became that person who comes into the office fully kitted out in rain gear.
I love my bikes, each one has had a special place in my heart. Bikes Not Bombs helps local youth in Boston who might not have a dad with a passion for bike repair, or a friend group who normalizes bike communiting. That's why I'm riding: so youth who want to be free from the bus schedule can be.
