My Personal Mini-Bash

Because we can keep Seattle Shakespeare safe for the future!

We are in a dark, uncertain time. Those of us who are healthy and lucky enough to shelter at home in comfort, nonetheless, cannot help but grieve our favorite gathering places from our pre-covid lives. I miss live performances of all kinds. And I especially miss Seattle Shakespeare’s innovative takes on classic plays, where we could come together to laugh, cry, and marvel how words written 400 years ago—in another plague-ridden time—capture what it means, for good and for bad, to be human.

Shakespeare lived through the plague of 1606. That devastating plague shut down the theaters in London and Shakespeare’s company. Shakespeare’s company survived only due the charity of benefactors.

As in 1606, the need created by this pandemic is unfathomable. We are all trying to do what we can with the means we have.

So if you can, please join me in supporting Seattle Shakespeare at this critical time.  When we emerge from this isolation, we will need Seattle Shakespeare’s wonderful art to bring us together to rejoice and to heal. With your help, once this darkness passes, Seattle Shakespeare will return to classrooms throughout Washington, to our parks for free plays in the summer, and to brightly lit theaters in winter. It will be wonderful.

Thank you for your past support for Seattle Shakes and anything you can do now.

Seattle Shakespeare is a professional, all-classical, year-round theatre company that reaches across barriers of income, geography, and education to bring classical theatre to life for everyone in Washington State. Whether you're in a seat at the Center Theatre or on the grass at Luther Burbank Park or in a school auditorium in Wenatchee, you are part of Seattle Shakespeare.

Bill's Bash is Seattle Shakespeare Company's annual fundraiser, happening online for the very first time! Help me welcome new audiences, new students, new artists into this work by making a gift today, and by spreading the word. You'll keep these classic works alive in schools, communities, and on stage, for today and for the future!
