This year, my kids and I are participating in Birdathon because birds have become part of our everyday routine. Each morning on our walk to the bus stop, we listen for birds and count how many we see. What started as a simple habit has turned into a fun way to slow down, connect with nature, and appreciate the wildlife right in our own backyard. Birdathon feels like a natural extension of something we already love doing together.

Birdathon helps NVBA to support outdoor education, citizen science, habitat conservation and programs to encourage people to plant native plants and protect native wildlife. Birdathon also helps ornithologists better understand spring migration by reporting sightings through eBird, an online database of bird observations run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
