Our journey started a few weeks before Nov. 11th, 2025. William was having really bad headaches to where he was missing a lot of school. I got him into the doctor, and they told us they wanted to run some blood work and would call us with the results.

Less than 24 hours later, on Nov. 12th, around 2 a.m., someone called us and said, "Your son has cancer. You need to get him to Children's Hospital ASAP, and you might want to pack a bag." I sat there for a minute, then I woke William up and said, "Get dressed."

The doctors, the nurses, child life, the therapy dogs — everyone was great. William really loved the therapy dogs. We even had one of the EMTs come to his room and go over first aid with him for Boy Scouts. It was great, and we did Boy Scout things when we could while going through this.

We still have a way to go with treatment, but they say he's in remission. It has been tough having to handle a lot of it alone, without him not being around a lot, but William and I have made it through.

Angels Among Us, thank you so much. If it wasn't for you, I would have lost my son. Very much appreciated. Being a single parent and trying to do all this by yourself can be pretty hard and stressful when you don't know where the help is going to come from. You all do a great job, the whole hospital staff. I love you all so much. My heart and thanks go out to you all.
