Meet Isaiah and Family!
Learn More about Isaiah!
Isaiah is four years old. Two years ago, not quite a month after his second birthday, Isaiah was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma in his chest wall. Upon this diagnosis, genetic testing was performed and it was discovered that Isaiah has Li-Fraumeni syndrome. Isaiah, his mom and his one year-old younger brother were living in Florida at the time. The Children’s Hospital in his city decided to test Isaiah’s mom and brother. They were both diagnosed with Li-Fraumeni syndrome. The syndrome makes treatment of cancer difficult. It was determined that Isaiah should not receive radiation at the time. He started receiving weekly chemotherapy in January 2024. This continued until late November 2024.
While Isaiah was undergoing treatment, his mom, Kylie, and his little brother, DeAndre, began testing for cancers that could be caused by their genetic disorder. Luckily, Kylie and Dre, have continued to test clear throughout their regular scheduled cancer screenings. All three will need to be screened for the entirety of their lives. Upon completion of Isaiah‘s chemotherapy regimen, the family moved back to Iowa to be closer to extended family.
Isaiah‘s first three month screening was in March 2025. His cancer had returned in the same spot as before. At this time, Isaiah was under the treatment of Children’s in Omaha in conjunction with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Once again, Isaiah began receiving weekly chemotherapy treatments in April after undergoing surgery to remove as much of the mass as possible. Isaiah was sent to the Mayo Clinic in August to undergo five weeks of daily radiation. During this time, he continued to receive his weekly chemotherapy. Isaiah finished treatment in late October. His first scans showed a few lit up spots that the doctors believe to be scar tissue at this time, but will warrant a close watch. His recent scans have been showing no signs of cancer!
While undergoing this testing, it was discovered that Isaiah has Chiari malformation, a hereditary brain condition. This little superhero has continued to inspire everyone around him with his happy go lucky attitude.
