I need your help! On April 21, 2025 I will be running my 5th marathon: The 129th Boston Marathon. For this marathon, I will be representing The Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism. As a special educator for kids with autism, being chosen to run for Dougie’s Team means a lot to me, my students, and their families.
Tell your donors who you are and why you are running!
Since I started running a little over a decade ago, I have completed races all over eastern Massachusetts. At almost every race, I would frequently see members of Dougie’s Team. It wasn’t until I began training for the 2021 Boston Marathon that I finally was able to meet some of the runners for Dougie’s Team and learn about their foundation. The runners that day left a lasting impression on my life and I was honored to run the 2023 New York Marathon on Dougie’s Team. A few weeks before the New York City Marathon that year, one of my students on the spectrum was asking me questions about why I was running. I began to tell her about who Doug Flutie and Dougie Jr. are and their foundation, along with how I got on the team, including all of the required fundraising. She then asked, “So you are running for me then?” I was taken back by her question, but was able to answer with a confident “yes I am”. I ran The New York City Marathon with pride that year and knew that when I decided to give The Boston Marathon another go, that it would be for Dougie’s Team. After thoughtful consideration, this is why I have commit to run The 2025 Boston Marathon on April 21, 2025 as a proud member of Dougie’s Team.
