Hello Friends!
I am so excited and honored to be running the 2025 Boston Marathon for the Doug Flutie, Jr., Foundation.
As many of you know, my son, Patrick, has autism. I have watched him overcome challenges with what most of us accept as common life milestones. I think about him going through his days, his life, and I know running 26.2 miles is nothing in comparison. He has been one of the greatest gifts in my life. He has taught me more about not judging people, but rather giving them compassion, than anyone ever will.
I also know services like the services that the Flutie Foundation provides are life changing-not only for those with autism, but for their families as well. It can feel like you're all alone on this journey sometimes, so a Foundation like this provides a life line and can be life saving.
I remember watching Doug Flutie play for BC on my black and white tv in my bedroom. I watched him win the Heisman Trophy award. And I remember hearing about autism for the first time when he and his wife, Laurie, spoke openly about their son, Dougie. Little did I know, that years later, I too, would have a son who has autism and that I would also have the honor to run for their Foundation.
This will be my twenty-first marathon, my fourth Boston. As I run those miles next April , I will be thinking of all the Dougies and all the Patricks, and their families, in this world and I will be smiling the whole time.
I would really appreciate your support. Please consider making a donation here. Every contribution matters and can make the biggest difference! Thank-you!!
