2024 Boston Marathon Recap
About me!
I am thrilled and honored to be running once again as part of Dougie’s Team for the 129th Boston Marathon to raise funds for the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism.
Running the Boston Marathon was a life-long goal I achieved in 2022 and 2023, thanks in great part to the support from friends, family, and colleagues. So why again? Because I have a greater appreciation of the impact (publicly and otherwise) that the Flutie Foundation has upon so many.
- I attended and represented the Flutie Foundation at a Fidelity (my employer) event that featured rapper “C-Quig,” who lives with autism, an example of the Flutie Foundation promoting and showcasing the talents of many “super stars” in the autism community
- A colleague shared with me he has a child with autism who goes to a small school with 85 students and that the Flutie Foundation provided all the gym equipment for her school, some playground equipment, and also overall funding for the school. One of many “below the radar” examples where the foundation can have real impact.
- Other examples of support the foundation provides to many people and organizations supporting people with autism include tablets for assistive technology; scholarships for specialized camps, sports, and music; and equipment like fences and GPS bracelets.
On a personal note, my son Chas, who lives with a mild form of autism, is now a thriving Junior at Sacred Heart University. My family remains eternally grateful for those who have supported Chas and the rest of our family along our journey, and I am committed to trying to make a difference myself.
Doug Flutie Jr foundation is a registered 501c3 non-profit tax id: 04-3543134
