I am thrilled to be joining Dougie's Team for the 2025 Boston Marathon!
My connection to Dougie’s Team and the Flutie Foundation is three-fold and each of these three aspects is close to my heart. Primarily, as I noted above, I am a pediatric neuropsychologist who works with autistic children and their families. I have seen first-hand the difference that having support, connection, and inclusion can make for an autistic child and their family. I believe that the mission of the Flutie Foundation of empowerment, inclusion, and support for families aligns with many of my personal and professional goals for the families that I work with. I would love the opportunity to raise money to allow for this work to continue.
My second connection is a personal one. My nephew was diagnosed with Autism at age two. He has taught me far more than any of my graduate classes, trainings, etc. about what living with a child with autism means for a family. I know that our family is not unique within the world of Autism, and I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to raise money to help other families.
My third connection is far less impactful and important than the other two, but nonetheless worth mentioning. My husband and I met at Boston College (Class of 2004). Going to BC changed the trajectory of my life and part of the fabric of our BC experience was an emphasis on community service and providing to others. I feel so fortunate to be able to give back while achieving a life goal of running the Boston Marathon.
