I'm so excited to be participating in this fundraiser for the Boston Cyclist Union! The BCU does really excellent work in Boston and beyond, advocating for safer and protected bicycle infrastructure. Bike infrastructure makes roads safer for all users, including drivers! The BCU's work has directly impacted infrastructure that I use every day - the protected lanes on the Mass Ave bridge have made the north-south connection so much safer for me and everyone else who uses them. Biking is a great way to get around: every time I get on my bike, I get exercise, I see friends, I'm not beholden to train schedules or traffic delays, and I avoid generating greenhouse gases. The more people who ride bikes, the cleaner our air and environment will be!
This is going to be my longest bike ride ever (nearly 400 miles!!) and also a wonderful opportunity for me to learn bike skills, work on my endurance and mental toughness, and meet new people! Biking is such a source of community for me and I'm so excited to meet more future friends throughout this training season.
