I'm the person that only took the written part of driver's ed in highschool (b/c it was a graduation requirement) and never got my driver's license. This means that cycling, walking, and running are my main modes of transportation year round. When I first started commuting and recreating by bike, I was very nervous to ride in the street and tried to stick to trails as much as possible. I've gotten more confident sharing the road with cars, but the bike infrastructure has also steadily improved in every city I've lived in. This is my first time participating in Bostreal, and I'm so excited for the ride and building community with my fellow cyclists. We need groups like BCU, the Boston Cyclists Union, to advocate for better bike infrastructure so the roads are safer for all cyclists and pedestrians. Most people don't get nervous getting in their cars for their daily commute worrying that they may be seriously injured, and cyclists shouldn't either. Bostreal is one of the biggest yearly fundraisers for BCU, and I'm excited to participate and help them meet their goal!
