Welcome to my page!

Let me tell you more about why I'm riding...

Howdy!

As you probably already know since you somehow made it to my page, my name is Montell (but my friends call me Monty) and I am a 23 year old recent grad of Northeastern University, right in the heart of Boston. Originally hailing from Accra, Ghana; Boston has become a second home to me where I have been welcomed with open arms. My affection for this city runs deep and it, without a doubt, would not be the same without the cycling community.

From Friday Night City Rides to Boston Bike Party, the friends I have made through sharing in this sport and lifestyle we are all connected by make this entire experience worth it: this community is the reason why I ride. Being in the Mobiltiy Justice space, working with my apprentices, and introducing them to civic engagement while watching them grow as human beings has been the highlight of the work I do on a daily basis. It is this commitment to youth empowerment and diversity in the world of cycling that has me excited to support the Boston Cyclist Union's work.

I will be riding. navigating, and wrenching for 5 days (averaging 80 miles per day), back to back, from Boston to Montreal. I won't be doing this alone, however. Bos/treal is a ride experience designed to engage anyone, from cycling commuters to lycra-wearing roadies, and show them that cycling is fun and safe when supported. In the last year, the BCU's impact in the Greater Boston Area —among other things— has been succesful organizing and advocacy around the need to connect Boston's bike lanes, leading to a major policy win from Mayor Wu's office that the City would be implementing the Everyone Deserves Safe Streets plan.

Please consider donating whatever you are able to in order to help support this fantastic organization and the amazing work it does! As an incentive, I will match whatever you give in the form of a donation, in your name, to a charity of your choice. In other words, if you give me $100, I will give $100 (now or in the future) to a charity/cause that is meaningful to you. If you can not donate at this time, please consider sharing my fundraising page. Thank you for your time and support! I hope to see you on a bike sometime soon and share some laughs. Until then...

Happy trails,

Monty
