Help get me to Montreal and Make Boston Safer for Bikes!
The Adventure Begins...
Hello and welcome to my "Bos/treal" (Boston/Montreal) ride fundraising page! As a first time rider of Bos/treal I am incredibly excited to be a part of this journey. Over the course of 5 days in late May and early June, we will ride approximately 400 miles to Montreal, experiencing the beauty of a lush, green New England. We'll camp every night along the way and once we arrive at our final destination, we'll learn how Montreal has put the work in to make itself a more bike-friendly city. This fundraiser helps directly offset the cost of the bike trip (logistics, food, campsite fees, truck rental) with all remaining proceeds being fed back in the Boston Cyclists Union (BCU) for their organizing efforts throughout the year. The BCU has done integral work over the better part of the last decade to ensure Boston continues to move forward in terms of its bike infrastructure through in-person events, social media presence, as well as directly meeting with and lobbying city officials or state lawmakers. Their mission is "to transform the streets of greater Boston into equitable and inviting people-centered spaces affording access and connection for every body."
Starting in mid-March, we go on weekly group training rides varying in length and difficulty. Our first was just under 40 mi and our last training ride is a century (100 miles). We get to know each other, and our bikes, by pushing ourselves. And having fun of course! I would greatly appreciate any amount you can give to help this trip and the BCU's vision and mission become a reality. My goal is $1900 by May 27th.
