Hi! My name is Gary King and I have Borderline Personality Disorder. I was diagnosed in 2018 with Borderline Personality Disorder. I was hospitalized twice in a psychiatric hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah. At the beginning of 2019, Carolynn (now my wife) & I moved to Hawaii for a fresh start and to receive medical treatment & services.
We found a great psychiatrist, medical team, and mental health support team, including a counselor and case manager. I don't feel comfortable sharing this, but I feel my story needs to be shared to inspire others to share their story.
On June 5th, we're going to have a 1.5 mile virtual walk, and would love for you to donate, do the virtual walk with us, and learn more about BPD.
BPD is a serious mental illness, affecting up to 6% of the population, characterized by emotional dysregulation, impulsivity, depression and suicidality. It is the mission of Emotions Matter BPD to change that. The Walk for Borderline Personality Disorder aims to bring public attention to this disorder and to offer HOPE. Funds raised from the Walk will be used to fund BPD empowerment initiatives, such as support groups, social programs, educational resources and workshops.
Thank you,
Gary King
