Our son Brandon was born in January 2016 at exactly 28 weeks. At 1lb 15 oz, he was a tiny, fragile, feisty little miracle.
The NICU doctors and nurses at Children's Hospital Minneapolis took extraordinary care of Brandon during his 4 weeks at Children's Minneapolis, 4+ weeks at their satellite at Mercy Hospital, and again during 2 more nearly week-long trips back to Minneapolis after his initial discharge. Thanks to the skillful care of these amazing professionals, Brandon is now a healthy 8.5lb. bundle of smiles, happiness and joy.
The care our family recieved did not stop with Brandon. The resources and support made available to us were incredible- nearly endless educational resources, meals for Elissa during visits, a webcam so we could see him when we couldn't be there with him, a play room to keep Arya entertained on visits, assistance navigating insurance- these are just a fraction of the things they offered to help us focus our energy on Brandon and make the experience as easy as possible for our family.
We will be forever grateful for the incredible care that Children's gave to Brandon and our whole family. We are fundraising for this walk to help ensure that other babies like Brandon and other families like ours get this same amazing care and assistance.
