Brenden was born on November 24th, 2010 at 25 weeks gestation. When he was born, he weighed 1 lb. 15 oz. and was 13 inches long. Brenden's NICU stay was defintiely a roller coaster ride for us all. Brenden experienced many challenges, especially when it came to his lungs. After a couple months in the NICU, it was decided that Brenden needed to have a tracheostomy in order to continue to receive ventilation on a daily basis. Through surgeries, many tests and constant monitoring, Brenden's team of nurses, doctors, pulmonologists, pain and palliative care, and respiratory therapists continued to stand by our family and became a support system, and friends through this difficult time. We were truly given top notch care every step of the way. After 153 days in the NICU, Brenden finally got to come home. While he has had quite the journey, we continue to be so thankful for the 5 year old boy he is today.  We can't believe that in the fall, Brenden will start KINDERGARTEN!! We are so blessed to have such a fabulous NICU at St Paul Children's Hospital and they are truly the reason that Brenden is alive and doing so well today! Thank you so much for your support!
