On April 6th, 2012, our handsome little Tyler was born. Our excitement quickly turned to panic when we realized he was not breathing and had no color. He was immediately transferred to Children's-Minneapolis, placed on a respirator, received blood transfusions, and was placed in body cooling to prevent brain damage.
Nothing could have prepared us for the first time we saw him hooked up to all the medical equipment. But, the staff was great at explaining what everything was and how it was helping our little man. They were not able to tell us what Tyler's outcome would be, but assured us that body cooling was the best way to prevent brain damage and give him the best shot at a "normal" life.
Tyler is now a happy, healthy, smart, sweet, funny, outgoing 4 year-old! None of this could have been possible without the team at Children's and the answered prayers of our supportive family and friends.
Our family and friends have walked with us every year to honor Tyler and raise money for Children's. Although our team will not be able to participate in the walk this year, we are excited to continue fundraising to support this wonderful cause!
