WELCOME TO BLUE SKY'S HIKE FOR KIDS
Hike for Kids is Blue Sky’s signature fundraising event and brings our community together to raise funds and awareness of our outdoor education programs!
Participants will hit the trails of one of Richmond’s most popular attractions, the James River Park System, and enjoy some of the best urban trails in the country with either a 3, 7, or 14 mile loop. All are welcome to celebrate the journey at our post-hike party with food, drinks, games, and music.

Hiker Start Times: 9:00 am to 12:30 pm
- 9:00 am: 14-mile hiker waves begin
- 11:00 am: 7-mile hiker waves begin
- 12:30 pm: 3-mile hiker waves begin
Post-Hike Celebration: 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Here's what you can look forward to by joining us for our 15th annual Hike for Kids.
BASECAMP Virginia War Memorial Amphitheatre
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your hiking distance start time to check in and receive your bibs which includes drink/food tickets for the post-Hike celebration.
Parking – The Virginia War Memorial has a parking deck that will open for our use at 8:00 am, located at 621 South Belvidere Street. You can park in the open space at the top and go through the building to meet us in the outdoor amphitheater, or you can take the elevator from the below-ground section of the parking deck to the main lobby of the VWM and head out the doors to meet us in the outdoor amphitheater. We’ll have signage onsite to direct you to hiker check-in.
JAMES RIVER PARK SYSTEM HIKE 9:00 am to 1:30 pm
Choose your own adventure! Enjoy some of the best urban trails in the country with either a 3-, 7- or 14-mile loop around the James River Park System.
- 8:45 am: Check-in opens at the Virginia War Memorial
- 9:00 am: 14-mile hike start time
- 11:00 am: 7-mile hike start time
- 12:30 pm: 3-mile hike start time
Take breaks along the way at a Fuel Station and be sure to tag @BlueSkyFund in any social media stories and posts you make along the way!
Please note that online in-person registration will close on Wednesday, October 21nd at 11:59 pm EST. Walk-up registration will be available onsite Saturday, October 24th starting at 8:45 am EST, with increased registration fees.
POST-HIKE CELEBRATION 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
All are welcome to celebrate the journey at our Post-Hike Party! We will have Music from DJ Brice named Best of in Style Weekly's 2026 for his radio show "The Chill Factor with DJ B-Rice", delicious sandwiches from 1115 Mobile Kitchen, fun auction items to bid on, and our favorite beers from Vâsen Brewing Co including our Blue Sky Kölsch! Food and drink will be available for purchase, although registered hikers will receive a free food & drink ticket
