COVID Race Rules
- All racers must be 18 or older on or before August 22, 2020.
- Teams must raise $250 or be sponsored by a business to qualify to race.
- While we would love to allow friends and family to cheer for the teams, we kindly ask that they watch the event virtually on Facebook Live to assist in social distancing.
- If a team is unable to complete a challenge they may opt to take a one hour penalty. The penalty will be added to their final finishing time and may affect their finishing rank. The same one hour penalty will apply to each task they opt not to complete and penalty times are cumulative.
- Teams will be allowed to use their phones to help them navigate and complete tasks unless stated otherwise in a given challenge.
- If a task/challenge requires that only 1 team member complete it, the other team member may not assist in any way. This includes verbal hints or instructions from one team member to the other.
- Racers must stay with their teammate throughout the race unless instructed by a detour sponsor to do otherwise for the purpose of their task/challenge. Teams may not “divide and conquer”. Any team found to be completing multiple detours at one time will be disqualified.
- Teams are allowed to form alliances or work together at their discretion. Teams are not allowed to sabotage another team and will be disqualified for such behavior.
- Racers should not wear anything offensive or illicit. Please remember Be the Village serves children and families and race-wear should be appropriate for a family friendly event. Event staff reserves the right to require a team to change if the Leadership Team decides their apparel does not follow these rules.
- Qualification ends August 22nd at midnight (night prior to race) EST. Donations will not will not count toward fundraising totals after this time.
- Check in starts at 9:30 am on August 22nd at Firebrook Park . Any teams not checked in by 10:00 am will be disqualified.
- All teams are required to sign a release of liability waiver and a copy of these rules at check in. If a team refuses to sign either they will not be allowed to participate in the race.
- We will be photographing and filming portions of the race, part of the waiver teams are required to sign is a release to use team’s images and likeness.
- Team names cannot be duplicated. Expletives and profanity are not allowed in team names. Be the Village reserves the right to refuse the use of a team name if it violates these guidelines.
- All donations made to teams, whether that team qualifies or not, are the property of Be the Village and used to serve foster and adoptive families in South Central Kentucky.
- Be the Village, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Racers and donors may request documentation from the organization by emailing bethevillageky@gmail.com.
- Members of the Be the Village board and their spouses are barred from participation in the race.
- Be the Village reserves the right to amend these rules for clarification purposes and agrees to provide all racers updated rules when/if they do.
