As an Optometrist at QMG I have had many patients that have had cancer and passed away, and many patients currently being treated for cancer. It is something I see daily and although it hasn’t affected our personal life and we are fortunate for that I am still constantly reminded of the toll it takes on families and individuals. If I can shave my head and raise some money to help out, why shouldn’t I? There is no better way to introduce my son, Ricky, to the idea that we should help others, even if it doesn’t directly impact us.

I am in 4th grade and I think helping others is very important but I like to do things to help others like every year I collect toys for Toys for Tots. When my mom asked me if I wanted to do this I thought why not. If I can raise money and shave my head and help somebody, maybe someone my age, then I probably should. Plus I think this will be a fun father son thing to do and I will stay much cooler the rest of the summer!
