When Jingle arrived at the shelter from the dogfighting ring with the other Christmas Dogs, he was in pretty bad shape. He went crazy in the kennel and bit through his tail. They had to amputate it! He continued to chase and bite at the tail, spinning wildly in his kennel. He cowered at loud noises and was afraid of men. Finally they asked us to foster him. We were initally reluctant given his behaviors but could see he needed out.
During the time Jingle was our foster he wento through 6 weeks of daily vet visits for an abcessed foot. Every day the vet tech removed the bandage, cleaned the wound, applied medication, and rewrapped his foot. Not once during that time did he growl or even try to bite her. Six weeks he had to wear the cone of shame and he bacame an expert on how to destroy it.
This dogfighter turned out to be a most gentle dog. He hardly barks, only growls at his tail stump, and has learned to love other dogs and people. We adopted him as soon as he was available and he's been the key to our health because walking is the only thing that keeps him calm. He walks 4 to six miles a day and hubby and I have lost a combined total of 80 pounds. This is a special dog who deserves recognition.
