We adopted Nova from the Brandywine Valley SPCA Georgetown, DE shelter in early July. We went there “just to look”, but fell in love with her mellow, curious demeanor. She came home with us that day!
A Catahoula Leopard dog (mix) without the spots, Nova is also smaller and perhaps slightly less high energy than typical of the breed. She does however keep us busy with walks and play of all sorts. She loves to fetch, play with her toys, play with the neighborhood dogs and children, and chew, chew, chew. She has fit right in with our family and we cannot imagine life without her.
Nova started out at a high risk shelter in Virginia and was moved to DE at around 3 month old where we were fortunate to cross paths. We are so grateful to Brandywine SPCA for all they do to help pets find health and caring homes!
Large black dogs can be overlooked at shelters. They can make wonderful companions!
