We adopted our Luna last September from the Brandywine SPCA just before the Hurricane Harvey dogs came to Brandywine. Our dog had passed away two years before and I was ready for another dog. I spotted a picture of Luna on Facebook and somehow I just knew she was the dog for me. I took my kids to see her the next day and after talking my husband into a new dog for two days, we went back and adopted our girl. It was love at first sight. I knew just looking at her picture that she was special. 

What we know about Luna before we got her is that she was bred on her first heat and then for some unknown reason she ended up on death row at the high kill shelter in Florida. She was used by humans and then thrown away, but thankfully the Brandywine SPCA went and rescued her. Our veterinarians suspect that Luna is either a poorly bred Boykin Spaniel or a Boykin/Brittany Spaniel mix. Since we spend a lot of time on our canoe, my husband has completely embraced that Luna is a Boykin Spaniel, affectionately knicknamed a "Swamp Poodle" as that breed is supposed to be a small hunting, swamp boat dog.
