Campership Challenge 2019

Hi! I am Genevieve Pietruszynski! I am 15 years old and have been going to camp for 9 years! I CANNOT WAIT for my tenth! I am a dancer, a cheerleader, I am in show choir, and I also participated in my schools mock trial team. I love camp so much. It truly has helped me throughout my entire journey. I have made so many amazing life-long friends at this camp. I have so many hilarious memories and touching ones too. I love going every year and getting to be myself for a whole week. One of my favorite parts of camp is the dance. I get to hang out with everybody at camp and dance the night away. I also love arts and crafts. I may not be the best crafter but I love it all the same. One of the little things that I love is singing songs before meals. I love screaming the words to all the camp songs with my friends! Although most campers' favorite song is Grace (because we get to eat right after we sing it!) my personal favorite is Razzle-dazzle! I love playing Ga-Ga ball, even though I definitely not a champion, it is still a good time. Another one of my favorite camp activities is tping a cabin. It is so much fun to sneak into another cabin and make a mess with some toilet paper! Ridding horses, ziplining, and creek stomping, are just a few more examples of what us campers get to do at camp. However, my all-time favorite thing about camp is my friends. They have stuck by my side for all nine years! We have so many inside jokes, we have made so many memories, and we are always there for each other when we need to let it all out. My camp friends are always there for me and have helped me through difficult times. I cannot wait to see them and I miss them so much. The camp is one big family and no one at Camp Heart Connection judges. Everybody supports one another and makes camp such a fun environment. One thing that I find so amazing about this place is that the camp is free of charge for campers. This is critical due to the fact some families struggle because treatment is so expensive. I want to give back to this camp and Children's Cancer Connection which has given me a home away from home. Also, I want to make sure that all campers get the opportunity to go to camp. Please help me to fundraise enough to support a whole cabin so that my friends and I can continue to make memories. Thank you so much!

Every year since 1988 Children's Cancer Connection has been dedicated to providing week-long residential camp for children diagnosed with cancer living or treated in the state of Iowa. We also provide an identical week of camp for siblings of children diagnosed. At Children's Cancer Connection we believe in serving the entire family, for the entire journey! No one is ever charged any amount to come to camp and we work year round to make sure we can provide a magical experience for our campers!


