Tid Bit About Camp!
Camp Heart Connection truly is "The Happiest Place on Earth”. Many children who come to camp for the first time are timid and shy, but once that first day is out of the way they don't want to go home! There are plenty of activities camp has to offer, from the rock-wall to archery even to horse back riding. While the children who attend camp have been diagnosed or are in remission of cancer, it doesn't stop them from being just a kid here at camp. Children's Cancer Connection and it's volunteers insure all kids at camp have the best week possible. Not only does Children's Cancer Connection provide a week full of magic and laughs for children with cancer, they also provide an identical week to all of their siblings. You might be asking yourself, wow that must cost a lot of money for the parents to send their children to camp. Wrong! Camp Heart Connection is completely FREE to all children who attend. How amazing is that!! This camp is completely run by donations and fundraising throughout the year. That is why YOU are so important in helping me meet my goal to raise $10,000 this year!
Little background about my connection with Children's Cancer Connection. October 21st 2010 my little sister, Camryn, was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma. This news hit our family hard. While is was all so new and confusing we were fortunate to have a team behind us through the entire journey ahead. Children’s Cancer Connection helped us to understand what was going on and what was to come. They treated our family as if it was one of their own. Camryn was able to attend camp twice, one time I was able to be there with her!
On April 28th 2014, Camryn gained her angel wings. Without the help and support of this organization we wouldn't be where we are today. I attended camp the year of her passing with hesitation of what emotions would flood me, especially being there without my little sister. It was the entire camp that helped me through that week. My family can’t thank Children’s Cancer Connection enough for their support.
My favorite part. My girls! I have been fortunate enough to watch a group of girls grow and mature into the young ladies they are today. This year will be my last year as a camp counselor as they will be GRADUATING!! Crazy how time flies when you're having fun! Every year it amazes me how far each one of them have come and how far they are going to go in their lives. In honor of them, I will be shaving my head once I reach $10,000! These ladies mean the world to me and I would love to be able to bring each one of them to camp free of charge with the help of your donation! I can’t wait for another magical week at Camp Heart Connection, help me make it count!
