It's hard to believe it's been almost exactly four years since my first chemotherapy infusion for Triple Negative Breast Cancer.

Although it had been several weeks since my biopsy and diagnosis that was the day it all truly became real. It was the first day I cried. The fear of the cancer, and of everything that came with chemotherapy, finally settled in.

As frightening as that season was, I also know how fortunate I was. I never had to wonder where I would sleep, whether we'd have enough food on the table, if the power would be shut off during the heat of August or the cold of December, or whether we'd have enough gas in the car to make it to my treatments. Those basic needs were never another burden for me to carry.

Not everyone facing cancer has that same security.

That's why the Cancer Foundation's work is so important.
